Houston Homeowner Questions Answered
Common questions about rodent control, exclusion, pricing, and our process โ answered by our Houston specialists.
General Questions
How much does rodent control cost in Houston?
Most Houston rodent control jobs range from $350โ$1,200 depending on infestation size, access difficulty, and number of entry points. Our inspection fee ($125โ$175) is credited toward any approved service. We provide written estimates before starting โ no surprises.
How long does rodent removal take?
The trapping phase typically takes 7โ14 days to achieve 72-hour zero-catch confirmation. Exclusion sealing takes 1โ3 hours depending on the number of entry points. Most jobs are fully complete within 2โ3 weeks.
Do you use poison/rodenticide?
Never. We don’t use rodenticide bait because it creates secondary poisoning risk for pets and wildlife, and dying rodents often die inside walls creating odor problems. We use snap traps exclusively during the trapping phase.
What is the difference between rats and mice in Houston?
Houston has three primary rodent species: Norway rats (large, burrow under slabs), Roof rats (agile, prefer attics and trees), and House mice (small, squeeze through openings as small as a dime). Each species requires a slightly different approach. See our species guide โ
Do you service the entire Houston metro?
Yes. We serve all of Harris County plus Pasadena, Spring TX, Katy, Pearland, and surrounding areas in Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. Same-day and next-day appointments are available across our service area.
Is professional rodent control worth it?
Yes โ especially in Houston, where rodents breed year-round. DIY traps catch a few, but professionals stop the source: sealing crawl spaces, attic gaps, and vents. At Rodent Shield Houston, we use photo reports, heat-rated materials, and odor-neutralizing sanitizers to ensure the problem never returns. Bottom line: Generalists treat rodents as one of many problems. We treat rodents as the only problem that matters.
